Education and Training
Dr. Unterman graduated with his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL. He earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. Dr. Unterman completed his residency and advanced eye surgery training at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. During his fellowship at the Louisiana State University Eye Center in New Orleans, LA, he specialized in diseases and surgery of the cornea, as well as refractive surgery.

Dr. Unterman was a full-time faculty member and assistant professor in the department of ophthalmology at the University of Kansas Medical School in Kansas City, KS. He also served as the medical director of the Kansas Eye Bank and the Cornea Service in Wichita, KS. Additionally, he worked as an assistant clinical professor at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS and as a consultant at the Kansas City Veterans Administration Center in Kansas City, MO.
Personal Life
Dr. Unterman and his wife Ellen have two daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys restoring sports cars.
